Cancer

In the eyes of general public cancer patients are like death sentenced prisoners who are loitering around the entrance to hell. They are all the same regardless of their races, skin colours, or religion. According to the estimate published by the WHO (World Health Organization) every year there are 6 million new and positive cancer cases being diagnosed in the world, and the undiscovered cases should be at least from double to triple of this figure. The death toll amounts to about 5 million.

A lot of tumors can develop into pre-cancer stage. For example, Hepatocele (liver cancer) is preceded by Hipertitis B and cirrhosis; stomach cancer is preceded by atrophic gastritis; esophagus cancer is preceded by the seriously abnormal thickening of the upper cell layer; cervix uteri cancer is preceded by cervix uteri inflammation; skin cancer is preceded by vitiligo, etc. If we could apply an effective treatment on the pre-cancer symptoms preventing them from developing into cancer, the results will be quite obvious.

Nowadays the modern medical treatment of tumor cannot get away just yet from surgery, chemotherapy and radiation  therapy. The side effect resulted from the damaging and poisonous reaction usually brings forth a lot more pain to the patients, or simply causes them to die from exhaustion. In a huge majority of cases, patients of the final stage cancer who could no longer stand the poisonous side effect and have to terminate all the chemotherapy and radiation therapy are sent home to wait "quietly" for their final moments.

As far as modern medical science is concerned the causes of tumors are still uncertain to-date. All the different theories, such as virus theory, DNA theory, emotional factor, dietary factor, environment factor, seem to have some connection with the development of tumors. In comparison, the preventive approach and methodology that the Traditional Chinese Medicine use to minimize the development of cancer among the normal people are worth promoting to whoever wants to stay healthy. The advice is we should avoid places where noxious or infectious air affecting health exists; we should practise meditation; we should stay harmonized with yin-yang; we should lead a pure and simple life, curbing all unwarranted desires; we should keep leisure and work in good balance; we should regulate our sex life; we should be conscious of our personal hygiene; we should keep ourselves mentally and physically in balance. These are ways of staying healthy.

The pathological cause of tumor is the uneven flow of hormone and clogging up of the blood flow in some decayed tissue or wound. The development of a malignant tumor does not signify there is something wrong with a certain location of the body. It is a local indication of whole body is in trouble. To attack the cancer it is necessary to start from the whole body. We should nourish and strengthen our physical body in order to expand our bodily immune system. To increase our resistance against any diseases we need to clear the toxic in our body, take care of all the lumps and tumors, keep up our normal blood circulation and pressure, keep our organs functioning properly, maintain yin-yang in good balance, practise meditation and tai-chi. Only by building up our anti-cancer functions can we attain good health, and be able to fight away all "evil". Such approach is much better than surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy which only aims at treating the "evil".

Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that where one depletes it should be supplemented, where one over builds it should be mitigated. When it is time to nourish but is ignored, vitality will not be restored, the immunity efficiency will be lowered. If one undergoes cancer treatment like surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, etc at this time not only will it be unable to shrink the tumor but it will cause more complication. When it is time to treat but is ignored, problem will get worse. The cancerous tumor will spread rapidly and enter into its final stage. (This indicates the importance of the diagnosis and treatment principles in the Traditional Chinese Medicine).

Traditional Chinese Medicine has always believed in "prevention is better than cure". The Chinese chi-kung is very effective in preventing us from being sick when we are well and healthy; and in curing when we become sick. According to Huarngdih Materia Medica it is written "When one leads a quiet and simple life, maintains one's vitality, keeps one's mind in tranquillity, how would one contract any disease?" When practising chi-kung we are able to take in the energy from the universe. That is, by "absorbing the mystic energy of the heaven and earth, gathering the essence of the sun and moon" we could strengthen ourselves physically and mentally, reinforce our bodily functions, intensify our immune system, fortify our white cells and lymphatic ability to reject the virus and foreign bodies, thus preventing the cancer cells from extending and keeping them stable. It could even help us confine the small local cancerous tumor within the area and prevent it from spreading. Chi-kung could also help us repair and restore the partially damaged organ caused by certain type of cancer. As a result the cancer will be placed under control or even be eliminated. In another word chi-kung could repair our bodily immune system as well as protect it. This explains why some cancer patients could prolong their lives or get total recovery when they are treated by chi-kung.

Besides, every year there are a limited number of AIDS patients and cancer patients who are cured and recovered by themselves. Are these people who survive over the diseases because of their immunity or they are just the few lucky deferred cases? We have yet to understand their real reasons.

Personally, I believe these patients have reached harmony with the great nature by chance. They have made themselves enter unknowingly into the utmost harmonious state with the nature and it is the power of the nature that cures them. This is something that falls into the scope of Fungshui, the science of geomany. (Fungshui, the essence in Chinese philosophy I-Ching, is one of the major components of the Chinese culture. Medicine and I-Ching are of the same origin. Their principles are extremely profound. Their results are similar to the explosion range of a nuclear bomb.) Therefore, could we be optimistic and have initiative in searching for such an environment, searching for a suitable "ground" where the patients could harmonize with the nature, unify man and heaven, entrust the power of nature to overcome their sickness? Theoretically, it is possible.
